CPC Hosts Summer Party to Celebrate Partners and Allies

On July 10th, CPC hosted a Summer Party at CPC One to connect with partners and allies. Over 200 guests, including Deputy Mayor Ana Almanzar, Michelle Jackson from the Human Services Council, and representatives from community-based organizations, schools, foundations, corporations, government agencies, and legislative offices, attended the event to celebrate CPC’s partnerships and the new space.

CPC Kicks Off Summer Rising Program for 1,300 NYC Youth
July 14, 2024
CPC kicked off the Summer Rising program for over 1,300 young people in Brooklyn, Manhattan, and Queens. The program aims to enhance students' academic, social, and emotional skills through a variety of fun enrichment activities. At the CPC Pike Street Summer Rising Program at P.S.126, students participated in STEM projects, arts and crafts activities, physical fitness exercises, presentations, and community building initiatives.

CPC Receives State Grant from Assemblywoman Rozic for Center Upgrades
July 9, 2024
On July 8th, CPC welcomed Assemblywoman Nily Rozic to Queens Community Center to see the repairs funded by a $125,000 state capital grant she secured for the center. Visitors of the community center, seniors and children in particular, have been able to enjoy the use of functioning elevators thanks to the state grant. The state funding also provided air conditioning units for CPC’s daycare center.

CPC Takes Community Members to Met Museum
July 8, 2024
On July 9th, the CPC Brooklyn Community Center organized a trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art for members of the Older Adult Mental Health Service (OAMH) program. The program, supported by the New York City Council, is committed to offering mental health screening and support for individuals aged 55 and above. The excursion provided an opportunity for community members to bond while exploring the museum's exhibits.

CPC commends and recognizes the City Council and the Mayoral Administration for all of their efforts in the critical restorations to the social safety net that were cut in the proposed Executive Budget. We will continue our advocacy to ensure that there are more investments in the future that go beyond restorations to ensure that our Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI), immigrant, and low-income communities are living fulfilling lives.

CPC Celebrates Graduates from Early Childhood Centers

CPC celebrated the Class of 2024 across our early childhood centers in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens with graduation ceremonies featuring performances, food, and presentations. Congratulations to all students and staff across the centers for their achievements. This milestone not only marks their hard work paying off but also the start of an exciting new chapter in their education.

On June 29th, CPC hosted a celebratory ceremony at CPC One for high school and college students from the Class of 2024. We recognized 11 Education and Career Services Scholarship winners. The gathering also served as a reunion for CPC Learn & Earn alumni to encourage connections and celebrate shared experiences.

CPC One Drives Community Collaboration

Throughout June, CPC One continued to serve as a hub for diverse community initiatives and collaborations. These included hosting a roundtable for Goddard Riverside’s Young Black Males Grassroots Initiative, organizing a train-the-trainer workshop on climate change for staff and allies, and facilitating an advocacy workshop for the Literacy Assistance Center’s Literacy and Justice program.

CPC Statement on Home Care Workers' Call to End 24-Hour Shifts and Make Two 12-Hour Split Shifts Universal

CPC and our subsidiary, CPC Home Attendant Program (CPCHAP), are in full support of home care workers in their call to end 24-hour shifts and to make two 12-hour split shifts universal. Unfortunately, 24-hour shifts are mandated by State law and determined by insurance companies. Like all home care agencies, CPCHAP does not have the power to split 24-hour shifts on our own. Aging Committee Chair Assembly Member Ron Kim recently acknowledged that health insurance companies determine split shifts, not home care agencies.
