The Chinese-American Planning Council (CPC) strongly opposes the United States Supreme Court's 6-3 decision on Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, which effectively overturns the Constitutional right to abortion as established in Roe v. Wade nearly 50 years ago.

This decision will leave nearly 40 million people without safe access to abortion and reproductive care. This decision will disproportionately harm Asian Americans and other people of color, immigrants, and low-income communities across the United States.

“As an organization that provides culturally competent and linguistically appropriate care to ensure the well-being of individuals and families, we unequivocally affirm that abortion and reproductive care is health care and that everyone must have safe, legal access to this life-saving care, regardless of location, socioeconomic status, language ability, or immigration status. This decision will directly harm our community members, and we are committed to fighting to ensure that everyone has the right to quality, affordable health care,” said Wayne Ho, President and CEO of CPC.

CPC urges you to follow the lead of and uplift organizations like National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum (NAPAWF) and Asian & Pacific Islander American Health Forum (APIAHF) that are doing important work on reproductive health justice for the AAPI community.

For those who are in New York City, there will be two events tonight. You are encouraged to attend a gathering in Washington Square Park at 6:30 PM to rally for reproductive rights and then a healing space in Union Square at 8:00 PM.
