Wellness at Hong Ning Housing for the Elderly
The Resident Wellness Program aims to enhance the residential experience at Hong Ning Housing for the Elderly. Through the work of the Resident Wellness Coordinator, we foster a sense of community, develop enrichment and cultural activities, and provide casework services for the 200 residents, most of whom are Chinese-speaking senior citizens. We aim to bring mental health screenings, health maintenance workshops, English language classes, Tai Chi classes, and congregate activities for the tenants and their family members. Program initiatives include promoting health and wellbeing through group activities and exercises, such as arts and craft sessions, and chair exercises; and building community by hosting inter-generational cultural performances, as well as community information sessions.
The Hong Ning Housing for the Elderly is operated by a CPC subsidiary, CPC Housing Development Fund Corporation, under the auspices of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
