Adult Literacy Program

The Adult Literacy Program provides free English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes in the mornings, afternoons and evenings in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens. Classes are designed to help adult students learn the necessary English communication skills needed to support their families, community, and employment.

The program provides:

  • Six levels of classes to ensure appropriate instruction, from low beginner to advanced
  • A set curriculum with "outside the classroom" learning experiences like field trips and class projects
  • Dedicated and highly qualified native and bilingual instructors
  • Small class sizes - fewer than 25 students - for personalized attention and individual help
  • Job development, workshops, and other support are also available to students

This program is funded by the NY City Department of Youth and Community Development and the NY State Office of New Americans (appearing in alphabetical order below)
