New Data: Federal SNAP Cuts Threaten AAPI and Immigrant Families Food Access Across NYC

On January 9th, CPC released an analysis on the impact of federal budget cuts on food security for AAPI and Immigrant communities in New York City. The analysis shows that the federal budget passed in July 2025 is already having devastating effects on Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) and immigrant families citywide. These federal decisions are overwhelming food pantries and community providers, even as grocery prices remain high and demand for emergency food continues to surge. We urge state leaders to advance the Protect, Invest, and Expand Food Security Package in this year’s legislative and budget negotiations.

CPC and Brooklyn Nets Team Up for Holiday Food Distribution Event

On December 22nd, CPC partnered with the Brooklyn Nets to distribute 350 shares of fresh, culturally appropriate produce and groceries to the Brooklyn community as part of holiday season support. The event provided families with nutritious staples, including leafy greens, fresh fruit, and eggs. Each share also contained a special holiday gift.

CPC Hosts Winter Festival for Over 400 Special Needs Families

On December 13th, the CPC Queens Special Needs Program hosted a Winter Festival at our Queens Community Center. The event brought together more than 400 participants, including individuals with developmental disabilities and their caregivers, for a day of fun and support. Attendees enjoyed a variety of festive activities, including arts and crafts, a photo booth, and karaoke. Beyond the festivities, the festival served to connect families with information and support networks.

CPC Joins Leaders at the Center for an Urban Future’s Policy Forum 

On December 10th, CPC President & CEO Wayne Ho joined a panel discussion convened by the Center for an Urban Future on "The Affordability Crisis Facing NYC's Older Adults." The forum brought together Queens Borough President Donovan Richards and leaders from major nonprofit organizations to explore how city policies can tackle the unique cost-of-living challenges older New Yorkers face. The discussion focused on the policy actions and investments required to strengthen financial security, stabilize incomes, and expand access to essential supports to address the affordability crisis among older adults.
