Undo Poverty: Flushing Highlights Grant Achievements

On April 3rd, Undo Poverty: Flushing collaborative, which includes CPC, shared accomplishments and insights gained over the past four years. Their goal was to debunk stigmas of poverty in Flushing, Queens, and identify the steps for economic advancement. Since 2019, the coalition has worked with various community partners and residents on diverse projects and programs. It also launched an ad campaign and a documentary film spotlighting real-life stories from Flushing. Representatives from the offices of State Senator John Liu and City Council Member Sandra Ung also joined the event.

CPC Hosts Natalie Leung of Teach for Hong Kong for Month-long Exchange Program

CPC hosted Natalie Leung, Co-Executive Director of Teach for Hong Kong, for a month-long experience from March to April. She gained insights into CPC’s diverse programs, including education initiatives, advocacy efforts, and development work. As part of the global Teach for All network spanning 60+ countries, "Teach for Hong Kong" aims to address the educational inequity caused by socioeconomic status.

CPC FAIR Unveils New York AAPI Special Needs Survey Results

On April 18th, CPC and CPC Families Advocating for Individuals’ Rights (FAIR) announced the findings of the New York Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Special Needs Survey at the Queens Public Library in Flushing. The survey collected 227 responses over the course of nine months and shed light on the challenges faced by individuals with developmental disabilities and their caregivers. Among these were obstacles to accessing services such as homecare, transportation support, public assistance, and benefits.

CPC Chinese Child Care Providers Receives the CDA Credential

CPC Early Childhood Learning and Wellness Services (ECLW) celebrated with nine Chinese-speaking family child care providers who earned their Family Child Care Child Development Associate (CDA) credential in early childhood education. Since the Fall of 2017, ECLW has facilitated six cohorts of CDA training in Mandarin, providing support and resources to our child care providers. Candidates underwent rigorous early childhood training, accumulated professional work experience, and passed an examination to obtain their certification.
