CPC Leaders Recognized Among City & State’s Asian Trailblazers List

On May 5th, City & State New York released its Asian Trailblazers list, spotlighting Asian leaders, including government officials, business executives, nonprofit and labor leaders, academics, and activists, who are driving change in politics and policy across New York State. Among the honorees are CPC Co-founder Virginia Kee and Board Members Veronica Tsang and Pat Wang, celebrated for their impact on the community.

CPC Open Door OAC and AM1480 Celebrate Mother's Day and AAPI Heritage Month
May 11, 2025
On May 11th, CPC Open Door Older Adult Center, in partnership with AM1480 Chinese Radio, hosted a celebration for Mother's Day and AAPI Heritage Month at House of Joy. Over 400 older adults joined the celebration and sang the popular Chinese song "Mom is the Best in the World." A special highlight of the day was the presentation of the Longevity Achievement Award to over 20 older adults aged 90 and above to honor their contributions to the community.

CPC Brooklyn OAC Hosts Fun Mother's Day Celebration

On May 12th, the CPC Brooklyn Older Adult Center celebrated Mother's Day with over 150 community members on a fun day trip to Cold Spring. Everyone enjoyed the beautiful scenery and nice weather. The celebration continued with a buffet at a local restaurant, where families and friends came together to share laughter and create memories.

CPC Statement on the NYS FY 25-26 Enacted Budget

CPC recognizes the passage of New York State’s FY26 $254.3 billion budget, which includes critical investments in Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI), immigrant, and low-income communities. While we are encouraged by these steps, the budget could have better addressed the urgent and long-term needs of our most marginalized communities, particularly amid a rising cost of living, a severe housing crisis, and a growing shortage in the home care workforce.

CPC Community Member Appointed to the NYS Council on Developmental Disabilities

On May 11th and 13th, Sing Tao Daily and World Journal published an article about Yulin Huang, a member of CPC's Special Needs Program, who was appointed to the New York State Council on Developmental Disabilities (CDD) Advisory Committee. Huang is the first Chinese American with a disability to hold this position. Her journey began when her mother sought support from CPC to access resources for her daughter with special needs. Through CPC-led initiatives, including English literacy classes and advocacy programs, Huang and her family not only acquired essential skills and support but also became active leaders dedicated to empowering other immigrant families facing similar challenges.

On May 21st, PoliticsNY and amNY unveiled their 2025 AAPI Power Players list, honoring influential leaders driving change in New York City and celebrating the contributions of Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities. Among the honorees is Wayne Ho, CPC's President and CEO, recognized for his leadership and impact on the community.
