Kathy Hochul, Grace Lee, and Brad Hoylman-Sigal Visit CPC Open Door Older Adult Center

On August 31st, CPC Open Door Older Adult Center welcomed Governor Kathy Hochul, Assemblymember Grace Lee, and Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal for a visit with our community. They toured the center, connected with program participants, and joined in a friendly game of ping pong. The visit offered an opportunity to learn more about the programs, services, and community that make Open Door a welcoming space for older adults in Chinatown.

Nan Shan Older Adult Center Members Attend US Open

Last month, members of the CPC Nan Shan Older Adult Center enjoyed a special day at the US Open in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The trip gave our members the chance to experience one of the biggest events in professional tennis. For many of them, it was their first time attending the US Open, despite living just a short distance from the tournament. The excitement of seeing world-class tennis in person made for a memorable experience, and everyone enjoyed the day.

Brooklyn Older Adult Center Hosts Thanksgiving Celebration

On November 19th, the Thanksgiving celebration at CPC Beacon Center, hosted by CPC Brooklyn Older Adult Center, brought together 300 community members. Attendees had a shared Thanksgiving meal, expressed gratitude to one another, and enjoyed a variety of performances. Additionally, turkeys were distributed to community members in preparation for their individual Thanksgiving meals.

CPC Brooklyn Senior Services Celebrates Lunar New Year

On January 27th, CPC Brooklyn Senior Services celebrated the Lunar New Year with over 250 community members. Our members enjoyed cultural performances, an art exhibition, and a special gift.

Yellow Whistle Distribution at Hong Ning Housing for the Elderly

On August 12, 2021, staff and Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) interns at Hong Ning Housing for the Elderly distributed over 300 whistles and hand sanitizers to elderly residents and home care attendants.

Prevent Dementia by Controlling Chronic Diseases Seminar

GrowNYC Provides Nourishment to CPC Brooklyn Seniors in Partnership with Council Member Menchaca

In the beginning of March, CPC along with Red Hook Neighborhood Senior Center began partnering with GrowNYC to host a Fresh Food For Seniors Program with funding from the Office of Council Member Carlos Menchaca. Though the partnership is on hold, the 10-week pilot program will provide fresh produce from local growers to seniors through GrowNYC on a bi-weekly basis.

On April 22, 2016, CPC's NY Chinatown Senior Center celebrated the reopening of its kitchen after repairing a gas leak discovered in Spring 2015. For the safety of the seniors, gas to the kitchen was turned off for many months while repairs were made.
