On August 12, 2021, staff and Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) interns at Hong Ning Housing for the Elderly distributed over 300 whistles and hand sanitizers to elderly residents and home care attendants. The Yellow Whistle Project is a campaign that promotes awareness and safety for all Americans experiencing hate and violence. By distributing yellow whistles, we hope people can protect themselves and remain alert in their surroundings.

"When distributing yellow whistles, we encourage residents and home care attendants to wear them when they are going outside. If they feel safe or uncomfortable, blow the whistle and ask for help," said Priscilla Fok, CPC Resident Wellness Coordinator at Hong Ning Housing for the Elderly. We were joined by four interns - Sammi, YiLin, Kelly, and Stephanie - and Lisa Lee Quilit, Assistant Property Manager, who distributed the whistles and hand sanitizers.
