Know Your Rights workshop empowers immigrants
With all the uncertainty surrounding immigration, there has been a lot of fear in our communities. As a result, it is important that members of our community understand what is going on and how to best protect themselves. On August 15th, we invited Ms. Maybeline Saharig from New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) to speak to members of our community. Ms. Saharig spoke about police/ICE encounters and forms of relief in the United States. For those who were not able to make the event, if you or someone you know has immigration-related questions and would like to meet with an immigration attorney for a free consultation, call Brooklyn Community Services at (718) 492-0409 ext. 313.
This workshop was made possible by NYS Office for New Americans.
