CPC Project Reach youth were featured in a news story about Spirit Day on October 15th, a day established in order to end the bullying of LGBTQ youth. Levka Starkova and Andre England, both members of CPC Project Reach, were interviewed by CBS New York 2.

According to the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network, seven out of 10 LGBTQ students experience harassment while at school and more than half of them report feeling unsafe.

Levka and Andre spoke about how people can educate themselves on these issues in order to ensure the safety and wellness of LGBTQ community members.

“Go online, look up some vocabulary, look up some terms, but also try to, I would suggest to listen to people in the LGBTQ community to hear their voice,” Levka told CBS2’s Cindy Hsu.

“There will always be people to support you, and just keep moving forward” Andre said.
