Brooklyn Senior Services Tours Governor’s Island
On June 8th, CPC Brooklyn Senior Services toured Governor's Island with 40 community members. Governor's Island is a 172-acre island and full of fun activities for people of all ages to partake in. Our community members had the opportunity to enjoy the lush green spaces, view amazing art exhibits, and spend quality time with one another to help fight against social isolation brought on by the pandemic. Thanks to our partners at GrowNYC, We were also able to tour the Teaching Garden. Our community members learned about urban agriculture and toured a variety of vegetable gardens, which are housed in planter boxes made of recycled plastic lumber.
CPC Brooklyn’s Older Adult Center provides services to up to 300 community members daily thanks to funding from DFTA.
