On December 9th, CPC held an Appreciation Reception at Essex Market to express our gratitude to donors and partners and to highlight the impact of their contributions to the community. It was our first in-person reception in two years.

The reception was attended by more than 200 guests, including Senator John Liu, Assembly Member Peter Abbate Jr., the Commissioners of the NYC Administration for Children’s Services, Department for the Aging (DFTA), Department of Social Services (DSS), and Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), Nelson Louis of the Ong Family Foundation (CPC Mission Partner), and other foundation leaders. We also introduced the honorees for our Lunar New Year Benefit: Derek Chan of Greater Hudson Financial, NYC Child Care Resource and Referral Consortium, and CPC Services for Families with Special Needs in Queens.

During the event, Min Aung Zaw spoke passionately about his experience with our programs. Min began his sophomore year at New Utrecht High School in Brooklyn. After attending school fairs and receiving recommendations from teachers and classmates, Min enrolled in CPC's Project Gateway, our college success program. Min made tremendous academic progress over time and was eager to find out more about college.

"I am grateful that CPC has provided me with resources, opportunities, and experiences I otherwise would have not had," said Min.

He was encouraged by our Project Gateway staff to apply, and win, the New York Power Authority's Future Energy Leaders Scholarship Award. Min was the first recipient from CUNY!
