CPC Homecrest Students Win NYC Water Resources Art & Poetry Contest

We are incredibly proud to announce that a team of students from the CPC Homecrest School Age Child Care (SACC) Program at PS 153 was selected as one of the winners of the NYC Department of Environmental Protection’s (DEP) Water Resources Art and Poetry Contest! Over 1,800 submissions were received by the DEP.
Congratulations to our young environmental champions: Shakhlo, Anela, Sofia, Sabina, and Zarina!
These talented students impressed the judges with a creative and impactful video exploring the importance of water and the critical need for conservation. Their submission demonstrated a clear understanding of New York City’s water resources and the role we all play in protecting them.
On April 30th, our students and their families were invited to celebrate alongside other citywide winners at the Helen Marshall Cultural Center. It was a proud moment filled with inspiration, innovation, and a shared commitment to environmental stewardship.
“Their video truly showed a genuine appreciation for New York’s water and how vital it is to our daily lives,” said Ashley Huang, Deputy Director of CPC SACC. “Our program is super proud of them!”
