On July 8th, Bin Feng, a member of CPC's Families Advocating for Individuals' Rights (FAIR) program, received the Willie Mae Goodman Family Advocacy Award from the NYS Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) in Albany. The award recognizes his lifetime of advocacy for people with developmental disabilities.

Bin has been an active member of CPC Queens Special Needs Parent Support Group since 2019 and joined the FAIR advocacy leadership group, a CPC parent-led initiative that advocates for AAPI individuals living with developmental disabilities, in 2021. For over 20 years, he has worked to help Chinese families support children with autism by volunteering and serving on various committees, including the NYS Council on Developmental Disabilities, Autism Speaks, and Project Ready.

"I am very honored to receive this award," Bin said. "This is not only for me and my family, but for all the family advocates who I admire and follow. My son has worked for eight years, pays taxes, and votes every year. Look what we have been through and what we have accomplished, and more to come."

On the same day, CPC also hosted a resource table at the Empire State Plaza to share special needs resources and the FAIR initiative.
