Rebuilding Together & Meredith Rennovates Little Star of Broome Street

On September 10, 2014, sixty Rebuilding Together New York City and Meredith Parent Network volunteers teamed up with the staff of Little Star of Broome Street Early Child Care Center to refresh and repair the center's aging classrooms and outdoor learning areas. Rebuilding Togeher New York City is a nonprofit organization that provides free repair for homeowners and community centers in need. The Meredith Parents Network editorial, marketing, and sales teams (which support magazines American Baby, Parents, Parents Latina, FamilyFun, and Ser Padres) worked together with the Rebuilding Together New York City AmeriCorp volunteers to refresh the 30-year-old center which serves 80 children a year through their daily enrichment learning program.

Thanks to their efforts 5 classrooms, bathrooms, hallway areas and doors were given a fresh coat of paint and other small home improvement touchups for the new school year. They also worked on landscaping in the new outdoor learning garden as well as installing rubber padding and concrete staining to improve safety in the yard.

The staff of Little Star of Broome Street Early Child Care Center are greatful for the rehabilitation assistance. The center strives to provide the best quality learning environment for their students and are glad that Rebuilding Together New York City and Meredith Parent Network were able to help us achieve this goal.
