CPC Bridges Gap Between OPWDD and Chinese Community

On July 15th, CPC facilitated a virtual dialogue between New York's Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and nearly 100 Chinese-American parents and advocates. The meeting provided updates on OPWDD's strategic plan while giving families from Brooklyn and Queens a platform to voice ongoing challenges. Community members identified persistent systemic barriers including language access difficulties in service navigation and Insufficient support for home education and for those with moderate to severe autism.

Wei Zhang, CPC Program Supervisor for the Services for Families with Special Needs in Brooklyn, and Jacqueline Fan, Program Director of Queens Special Needs, called for streamlined application processes and increased funding for family support services to better serve the communities.
