Edgar Pereira, Chief Program Officer of the Chinese-American Planning Council, has been recognized as one of City & State NY's 2026 Above & Beyond: Social Services honorees for his three decades of community service. Pereira began his CPC career over 30 years ago as a teacher's aide and cook at a childcare center, rising to oversee strategy, operations, and quality assurance across more than 50 programs serving low-income and immigrant New Yorkers. His work spans education, family support, and economic empowerment for children, older adults, and families.

“What I love most is empowering our community by ensuring they receive the vital services they deserve,” he says. “For me, fulfilling our mission and getting the job done isn’t just a duty – it’s a privilege.”
