CPC Quoted in Washington Post on Our City, Our Vote

Dec

CPC staff member and former Adult Literacy participant Jinquan Zhang was quoted in an article in the Washington Post about new city council legislation that would give immigrants who are not U.S. citizens the right to vote for mayor and other key municipal positions. On December 9th, the City Council passed the bill allowing 800,000 noncitizens to help pick mayors, borough presidents and city council members.

“I want to vote,” Zhang said. “I want who can represent me to make my neighborhood better.”

CPC was proud to stand with The New York Immigration Coalition, United Neighborhood Houses, Council Members Rodriguez, Rivera, Reynoso, and Menchaca, and Council Member-elect Abreu to call for #OurCityOurVote #Intro1867 to come to a vote.
