On April 27th, Wayne Ho, President & CEO of CPC, spoke in a webinar with 600 attendees hosted by Columbia University and the Committee of 100. During the panel discussion, he shared insights on the Chinese American community based on the State of Chinese Americans Survey, which gathered data from almost 6,500 respondents across 46 states on their experiences with healthcare, education, social services, and politics. CPC played an instrumental role in facilitating the research and was the only nonprofit partner invited to speak at the event.

The panel discussed the importance of data in making decisions, how data is used, and how data can be applied to help shape policy and decision-making for minority groups.

Chinese Americans have diverse backgrounds and diverse needs - from culture, family, healthcare, education, employment, finances and political engagement. They are historically underrepresented in politics and policy, and underserved in healthcare, education, and social services. Data disaggregation is the key to addressing the issues, concerns and challenges of Chinese Americans.

The survey, conducted jointly by Columbia University and the Committee of 100, is the largest of its kind, with nearly 6,500 Chinese Americans from 46 states answering 77 key questions. The disaggregated data will inform policymakers and the public about the diverse opinions, perceptions, and needs of Chinese Americans across the country. This information will be used to develop responsive policies, programs, and services to address their needs in a timely manner.
