On December 2nd, City Limits published an article detailing a federal rule change that would exclude thousands of legally present immigrants from the SNAP program. In the article, CPC’s Chief Policy and Public Affairs Officer, Carlyn Cowen, highlighted the anxiety the proposed changes are already generating within the community. She emphasized that this fear is triggering mental health crises, with families terrified they will be unable to feed their children.
According to the New York Attorney General’s Office, as many as 35,000 New Yorkers across the state could lose these food benefits.
