CPC Joins NMIC and Lutheran Social Services of New York in Op-Ed Advocating Fair Wages for Human Services Workers

On March 12th, amNY published an op-ed co-written by CPC, NMIC, and Lutheran Social Services of New York, advocating for #JustPay for human services workers and #FairPay4HomeCare workers in New York. The article highlights that home care workers are essential to caring for our community members in need, yet they remain trapped in a wage crisis. The op-ed calls on Albany to address the urgent need to increase workers' wages to match rising costs, warning that anything less constitutes a pay cut. It also notes that recent wage gains, such as the increase for home care workers to $19.65 per hour in New York City, are undermined when the state fails to fully fund them in contracts, shifting the burden to nonprofits and causing financial strains that destabilize the very safety net New Yorkers rely on.
