On March 22nd, CPC Education and Career Services team joined advocates, providers, Council Members Althea Stevens and Alexa Aviles, and community members, to call for increased funding to be directed towards youth services and adult literacy programs. Later that same day, CPC Adult Literacy Director Jeff Lau testified before the City Council Youth Services hearing. He highlighted the challenges faced by many immigrants in accessing English language learning opportunities and emphasized the pressing need for investing in education and literacy services.

The Mayor's FY24 preliminary budget proposes PEGs that directly cut services for youth in local Beacon and Cornerstone community centers, beds for homeless and runaway youth, and adult literacy services at a time when our communities need these services the most. This rally is to bring together providers, community members, and elected officials to talk more about the impacts of these proposed cuts and the importance for more funding to serve our youth communities across New York City.
