On November 11th, NY1 reported that the federal government shutdown has interrupted SNAP benefits for 1.8 million New Yorkers. In response, community organizations like CPC have scaled up emergency food distribution efforts to help families put food on the table.
CPC organized a pop-up food distribution at CPC One within three days and provided fresh produce to more than 300 community members. The news segment featured interviews with Marilla Li, CPC Director of Programs, and Miss Wang, a resident of CPC Hong Ning Housing for the Elderly.
Currently, CPC supports 9,000 community members who depend on SNAP and will continue working with partners to address growing need.
