CPC is Providing ERAP Assistance

As of June 1, 2021, New York State’s Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) is accepting applications!    

The Chinese-American Planning Council has received a grant from OTDA administered by HRA Dept. of Social Services as part of a partnership with University Settlement, Cooper Square Committee, and GOLES to assist tenants in lower Manhattan to apply for funds to pay off rental arrears incurred after March 13th, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.  

New Yorkers who owe back rent from March 13, 2020 and unable to pay their rent, or at risk of homelessness due to the COVID-19 pandemic can apply for help now.  All people residing in New York are eligible to apply regardless of their immigration status.   

New Yorkers are eligible for if they meet all of the following criteria as of March 13, 2020:

  • Applicant is residing at their primary residence and has arrears in rent at their current residence  
  • A household member received unemployment benefits or had a reduction in income, incurred significant costs, or suffered financial hardship, directly or indirectly, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 
  • The home must be at risk of being evicted or close to experiencing housing instability, which can be demonstrated in rent arrears as of March 13, 2020.  
  • Your total household income is equal to or less than 80 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI).
