Jacqueline Fan, CPC Queens Special Needs Program Director, spoke with World Journal about the negative effects of New York State's latest Medicaid reimbursement rate cut for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services and urged parents to speak up. She said families are facing service disruptions. Some providers have exited the Medicaid market entirely, and parents have had to search for agencies still willing to accept Medicaid while children adjust to new therapists. She estimated that the full out-of-pocket ABA cost was far beyond what most families can afford.
