CPC Brooklyn Older Adult Center Shines on 'Good Day New York'

On October 15th, CPC Brooklyn Older Adult Center was featured live on FOX 5 New York's 'Good Day New York,' highlighting their preparation for the grand finale of the Department of the Aging's 'Talent is Timeless' Competition. Steve Mei, Director of CPC Brooklyn Community Services, and Helen Chen, Director of the Brooklyn Older Adult Center, appeared alongside members of the Xinjiang Dance Team. During the interview, they discussed the community services offered by CPC and the diverse cultural and benefits support programs available at our older adult centers. They also highlighted the dedication and hard work the dance team has put into practicing for the upcoming competition.

CPC Celebrates Mid-Autumn Festival with Community Members

CPC celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with staff and community members at several sites. Activities included mooncake tasting, hands-on paper lantern crafting, and barbecues. The festival, which honors family, reunion, and gratitude, served not only as a cultural touchstone for many but also as a welcoming introduction to these traditions for newer community members.

CPC Celebrates 60th Anniversary with Benefit Recital at Carnegie Hall

On October 3rd, CPC continued its 60th Anniversary celebration with an evening of music and community at the Mother and Son Two-Piano Benefit Recital at Carnegie Hall’s Zankel Hall. The recital, featuring acclaimed pianists Michelle Chen Kuo and Christopher Kuo, transported audiences through a repertoire of Romantic-era masterpieces. Nearly 500 guests filled the hall for the full house performance, which raised nearly $120,000 in support of CPC’s mission to empower Chinese American, immigrant, and low-income families across New York City.

CPC Supports Showdown Chinatown and Celebrates Hip Hop Culture

On September 27th, CPC presented a lion dance performance and supported Showdown Chinatown, a hip hop festival that celebrated the fusion of Chinese and Hip Hop culture while bridging communities and honoring immigrant contributions to New York City's cultural landscape. The event brought together tri-state area communities for a day of breaking battles, music, and cultural exchange. The festival featured competitions across multiple categories, including kids' breaking and adult 1v1 battles.
