CPC Rallies at Tweed Courthouse to Demand Salary Parity in Early Childhood Education

On June 6, 2019, CPC joined fellow community-based organizations (CBO), teachers, families, and advocates to rally at Tweed Courthouse to demand salary parity in Early Childhood Education. The hundreds of supporters urged Mayor de Blasio and the administration to not adopt a new city budget without including funding for salary parity between early childhood education CBO staff and their DOE counterparts. Currently, the gap in compensation ranges from $15,000 to $35,000.

CPC Director of Queens Early Childhood Center Lois Lee has been in the community based early childhood education field for over 50 years. "We have the compassion, the hope for the kids future, our teachers work long hours and are burned out." said Ms. Lee during the rally. "CBO staff go above and beyond for our children and families. Our staff CHOOSE this work, they PRIORITIZE our communities."
